Jesus Christ is a wonderful person. He is wonderful because He is both God and man. He is not merely a good man, a wise man, a prophet, or a teacher. He is a God-man. Speaking seven hundred years before the birth of Jesus, the prophet Isaiah said, “For a child is born to us, a Son is given to us;…and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6). The child born to us is human, yet this human child is called Mighty God. This is Jesus, the God-man, the One who is both God and man.

It is human to need God. In a very real sense, our need for God has nothing to do with religion or with any weakness or depravity on our part. We need God simply because we are human. In fact, the deep sense of a need for God is the mark of a genuine and normal humanity.
